History of Amani Spas

After investing in the five-star Ivory Tree Game Lodge in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve in 2004, Ronleigh Gordon’s brainchild to build a luxury spa on the property took some time to come to fruition. After some convincing, the board gave her and her partner the go-ahead with the project, and the first Amani African Spa, with its unique spa design and concept, opened its doors in April 2006. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, the tranquilly situated spa was awarded the prestigious Le Nouvelles Esthetiques Safari Spa Award the following year, in 2007.

Shortly thereafter, lodges and hotel owners approached Ronleigh, requesting that she construct or refurbish spas on their premises. The spas would operate autonomously, but the value they would add to the establishment was undisputed. Since then, what originally started out as a hobby has grown into a vibrant, diverse and extremely successful business.

Amani Spas’ desire to go the extra mile has distinguished them from other spa operators, and today Amani Spas owns 15 spas countrywide, is the winner of four international spa awards, and employs 90 people countrywide.
